Pose Picture: Scene Image: Final Image: For my somewhere project, I chose to use the Twilight movie as I found it amusing to add myself to the movie. I like the movie and the characters so I wanted to put myself between the two of them. I used the quick selection tool and made a mask layer to take myself out of my dorm room and place myself in their environment. I made a copy of both the characters the same way in order to layer myself between them. I messed with the exposure and saturation to make myself somewhat match the colour scheme.

I think it would be hard to photoshop myself into this picture because the tree blanket thing is a hard fabric to replicate and put my face in the crack of it. It seems challenging and requires the clone stamp tool as well as the layers task that we did last time. This picture gave me an idea to put myself somewhere that can be edited to look real due to lighting and messing around with colours. This made me laugh because it was a creative way to make the girl look the other direction without editing the person itself, instead adding a mirror to show the reflection of the other girl is quite skillful to edit and really cool. I think this would be cool to recreate because it is fun to create landscapes in my own studio without going anywhere using everyday tools and good lighting to look realistic.

Square Double-Split Complementary Triad Artist Statement: For this project, I tried to use three different colour schemes for each version to have some variation. To colour the pieces I used the brush tool on Photoshop and used the eyedropper tool for each colour from the palettes I created on color.adobe.com. I used the colour replacement tool to change some colours on the different pieces as manually doing it would not make my pieces look harmonious and play around with the composition.  For the first one, I chose the square colour scheme and tried to make it aesthetically pleasing by choosing a nice skin colour tone and making my hair a purple colour so it stands out from my skin. I tested out different colours on different parts of the picture but settled on the way it looks in that piece because it looked the best in my opinion.  For the second one, I chose blue as my main colour and did a double-split complementary colour scheme.   Artist Statement: For my tagbrush I traced my black and white logo outline as carefully as I could to include as much detail in order to make the stamp on the spray image look as close to my logo as possible. I wanted the image of the Burj Khalifa to be recognizable. I chose the colours dark red and pink for the stamp overlays to create a boldening effect and make it look 3D compared to flat on the surface. I think to improve this I could have added the circle in the middle of the flower so it would look cooler.

In your own words, describe an image from the documentary or “The People’s Portfolio” that brought you close to your own emotions? This image about a mother hugging her son's gravestone in Arlington cemetery who died fighting for America. This woman sits by her son's grave everyday and reads to him. The story about this picture made me tear up because the emotions about this image are so strong and touch me because of my personal connection to Islamic countries (even if I am not Muslim). As an international student, the image represents that even though someone is of a different religion or race, they still get respected by the country they died fighting for. The mother's unconditional love even after he has died is so beautiful and the grief shown in this picture is so clear.  The picture captures the profound grief and pain experienced by a mother who has lost her child, highlighting the deep emotional connection between a mother and her son.   This video is cool when creating professional posters or wanting to go more into graphic design. I think creating the background and cleaning up the images is quite simple but the touch up on the images used takes practice to understand lighting and shading. The colour grading of the shapes and images is quite hard to understand when new to Photoshop. The positioning of everything and the choice of typography can be tricky too when matching a poster subject to the aesthetic needed. The tools itself are not hard to use as it was mostly transforming the images and a lot of it is similar to what we did in Illustrator. I think this video is fun to use when creating art from already existing images, as photo manipulation is a cool concept to understand when learning photoshop. Working on the compositing is quite simple to do as it is just editing already existing images from the internet and just fixing the levels of black and white on the images to create a mood/tone of the piece. Final Image of my Poster: Self Portrait: Selfie Inspiration: Propaganda Inspiration: \ Artist Statement: In this piece of work, I wanted to take a stand against racism using my graphic design skills to create a propaganda poster. As a person of colour in America, and as a victim of hate-crime in this country, I wanted to explain my feelings through my use of colour and representation of myself in the poster. I chose the colours red, greyscale and yellow to somewhat take inspiration from the constructivism art movement. I chose yellow to represent the tape and typography banners because I wanted it to give the effect of a crime scene.  In Illustrator, I created my self-portrait using the pen tool and shading with different colours. I did not want to include too many colours in my poster so I exported my portrait into Photoshop and applied a black and white filter as well as changed the brightness and contrast of my image to make it greyscale but not muted looking.
